Corporate Media Boycott
To: The Corporate Media
From: The Citizens of the Dictatorship formerly known as the United States of America
On December 12, 2000, American Democracy was murdered.
The perpetrators were the 5 Republicans on the United States Supreme Court, who issued a lawless decision in Bush v. Gore in order to appoint their candidate, George W. Bush, as President.
105 million votes were discarded on December 12. Only 5 votes were counted - Justices Rehnquist, Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy, and O'Connor .
Our Founding Fathers are weeping.
We have been waiting for the corporate-owned news media to report this murder. But you have steadfastly refused.
You have ignored - and even lied about - an increasing body of evidence proving that Al Gore DEFEATED George W. Bush in Florida.
- Without counting a single hanging or dimpled chad, Gore won by 464 votes
- If all of Florida's voters had voted on state-of-the-art machines, Gore would have won by nearly 50,000
You have covered up CRIMINAL activities by Florida Republicans, including:
- A conspiracy to disenfranchise thousands of legal voters by Katherine Harris' office through a "felon" purge that was deliberately inaccurate
- A conspiracy among Republican officials in Seminole and Martin counties to alter defective absentee ballot applications
- The failure of dozens of counties to count legal ballots that were rejected by tabulating machines
- The failure of 47 counties to perform the mandatory machine recount in an election that was separated by less that 1%.
Democrats.com and other independent media outlets have carefully documented these facts.
We have also campaigned tirelessly to bring these facts to your attention, through letters, calls, e-mails, and hundreds of protests since Election Day.
Most recently - on May 19 - thousands of us marched in Washington DC and San Francisco. And once again, you refused to report this story.
Your anti-Democratic bias is not new. It began under Ronald Reagan in the 1980's, when the Fairness Doctrine was abolished. You abandoned objective reporting by news professionals, and switched to pro-Republican and pro-corporate propaganda. This has been extensively documented by media watchdog groups like Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR).
As citizens, we are left with no choice. If you insist on boycotting us, then we must boycott you.
We, the undersigned, will no longer watch your TV news, listen to your radio news, or subscribe to your newspapers.
Instead, we will get our news from independent news sources, including the Internet.
You may refuse to count our votes, but your business requires you to count our dollars.
When your stockholders and advertisers ask why your audience and revenues are shrinking, you can tell them that the majority of your readers - who are Democrats - refused to support your biased, anti-Democratic and pro-Republican reporting.
Sincerely,
