The FERTIK Factor
The No-Bushit Zone
Hey Bill: I challenge you to a real debate - anytime, anywhere!
Do you have the guts to debate me?
Or are you a right-wing chickenhawk coward like
George "aWol" Bush, Dick "I had better things to do" Cheney,
Rush "anal cysts" Limbaugh, Brit, Trent, and all the rest?
How Many Lies Did Bill O'Reilly Tell
in his Debate(s) with Bob Fertik?
Debate #1 9-25-02: O'Reilly v. Fertik, seated in the FOX News studio
O'REILLY: "We don't break in for the president of the United States and run his speeches. Why should we do that for Al Gore?"
-
BUSHIT! Oreilly-sucks.com writes: "Did O'reilly lose his mind, Fox News breaks away from whatever they are doing to cover the Bush speeches at the drop of a hat. If Bush blows his nose they cover it, whenever Bush speaks on TV I switch over to Fox news and they are always covering it. Some of the time they are the only network who covers it, for O'Reilly to say this proves he is a spinner and a liar. I think Fox news has a direct line to the White House, they always cover the Bush speeches and they are always the first to get them on the air.
O'REILLY: And we covered him. I mean, I saw Al Gore all day long on the Fox News Channel and the other two, because I got a bank of monitors in my office, and he was on all day long with the pith of his remarks, that he thinks that you should go after terrorism first and then look at Iraq.
-
BUSHIT! Oreilly-sucks.com writes: Does anyone believe Al Gore was on Fox News all day long? First O'reilly says they would never cover Al Gore, then he says he was on the network all day long. Which is it Bill? I had my 2nd TV on Fox with the sound off and they never covered the Gore speech at all. CNN showed about 5 minutes of it, MSNBC showed about 10 minutes of it during the part where he talked about Iraq, and Fox did not show any of it. I know because I had my 2nd TV on Fox News the whole time. They did talk about it and show clips from it later in the day but that was only so they could have their on staff paid stooges laugh at gore and tell everyone what an idiot they think he is.
O'REILLY: Perhaps I believe in the Supreme Court, OK, Mr. Fertik? You don't like it here take a bus down to Mexico.
O'REILLY, on Supreme Court's virtual porn ruling, August 28, 2002: If you're a pervert who is a predator, that you're not going to go for this stuff - all right. That you're going to go for that stuff in lieu of getting a little boy or girl you don't at that point. So I think the Supreme Court was wrongheaded here, because I think protecting children is a responsibility of the federal government.
O'REILLY, on 9th Circuit's Pledge of Allegiance ruling, July 1, 2002: But this court (9th circuit) is anti-American. I don't care what they do. I don't care what they say about hiding behind the Constitution.
O'REILLY: Now, Mr. Fertik, you're either being untruthful or naive. Yesterday CNN-Gallup poll comes out, 66% of Americans support going into Iraq, even without U.N. mandates. Did you not see that poll?
-
BUSHIT! Oreilly-sucks.com writes: Here is another flat out O'Reilly lie, in the CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll taken 9-22 only 57% support going into Iraq. I think O'Reilly got the Bush approval rating mixed up with the poll number or he just flat out lied. Here is the question from the actual poll and the numbers:
"Would you favor or oppose sending American ground troops to the Persian Gulf in an attempt to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq?"
9-22-02: Favor - 57% -- Oppose - 38%
Here is another O'Reilly lie exposed, from the same poll. Bill said 66% favor going into Iraq even without U.N. mandates - this is a 100% lie. If the U.N. opposes invading Iraq only 37% of Americans support it. Here is the question and the answers from the CNN/Gallup poll:
"Some people say they would support invading Iraq with U.S. ground troops only if certain conditions were true. For each of the following conditions, please say if you would favor or oppose invading Iraq with U.S. ground troops if it were true. How about if......
The United States had to invade Iraq alone
Support - 38%
Oppose - 59%
No Opinion - 3%
The United Nations opposed invading Iraq
Support - 37%
Oppose - 59%
No Opinion - 5%
Congress opposed invading Iraq
Support - 37%
Oppose - 59%
No Opinion - 4%
O'REILLY: Yesterday CNN-Gallup poll comes out, 66 percent of Americans support going into Iraq, even without U.N. mandates. Did you not see that poll?
FERTIK: I also saw the CBS poll which had it the other way around.
O'REILLY: No, it didn't.
52% US should follow recommendations of the UN
37% US should decide what to do on its own
57% US should wait and give the UN more time to get weapons inspectors back into Iraq
37% US should take military action against Iraq fairly soon
61% US needs to wait for its allies before taking any action against Iraq
31% Iraq presents such a clear danger to American interests that the US needs to act now, even without the support of its allies
O'REILLY: Mr. Fertik, I got to tell you. I have seen spinners in my life, but you are at the top of the list. The polls clearly say this is what Americans favor and they don't. You come on this broadcast with me and look into the camera and say to the people that's not true. So we are going to bid you adieu. We appreciate you coming in. But it's a no spin zone.
- Bushit! The O'Reilly Factor is a nothing-but-spin zone!
Debate #2 9-25-02: O'Reilly by himself at the end of the show, after Fertik left Fox
O'REILLY: Time now for "The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day." Earlier in the broadcast, you heard Bob Fertik, the founder of democrats.com, say that a new CBS poll opposed military action in Iraq. I told Mr. Fertik that was not true, and it's not. Here are the poll numbers. When asked by CBS, "Do you approve or disapprove of the United States taking military action against Iraq to try to remove Saddam Hussein from power?" 68% of Americans approved, 26% disapproved. Once again, this is a No Spin Zone. We are not going to tolerate deception by anyone because it is ridiculous, all right?
- BUSHIT! Same s**t, different bottle. See above.
Debate #3 9-26-02: O'Reilly by himself at the start of the show
O'REILLY: If you missed the interview with the guy from Democrats.com last night, we posted it on the Web site. He misstated a CBS poll on Iraq, intentionally, I believe, so we showed him the door. Soon after that, he posted on his site that he kick[ed] my butt in the segment.
- BUSHIT! Three strikes and you're out!
