Susan McDougal Pens Book of Her Persecution by Ken Starr

Ken Starr

Jennifer Frey writes: "The Office of the Independent Counsel, Kenneth Starr's office, would give her immunity from any charges related to the failed 1980s Whitewater real estate venture, in which she and her husband, Jim McDougal, were business partners with President Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton, if only she would connect the Clintons to the deal. And she said no. And she went to jail. Her answer is pretty simple: She didn't know anything. She thought that, if she testified she didn't know anything, she'd be charged with perjury. She says the only way to stay out of jail was give prosecutors dirt about the Clintons, which would have been a lie. So she dug in her heels. McDougal and Pat Harris -- her lawyer, her onetime fiance and her closest friend -- have now collaborated on a new book about her odyssey, 'The Woman Who Wouldn't Talk: Why I Refused to Testify Against the Clintons & What I Learned in Jail,' which will be released by Carroll & Graf in January."

Ken Starr Scandal - Ohio Taxpayers Pay Starr $125,000 To Raise $$$ for the GOP!

Ken Starr

The Cleveland Free Times reports, "Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery, who last year hired former Clinton bane Kenneth Starr to serve as special counsel in the defense of the Cleveland school voucher case, is raking in the cash as Starr stumps for her election campaign. At a rate of $400 per hour, Starr stands to be paid up to $125,000 by the State of Ohio for his legal help... Is this a pay-to-campaign scandal? Starr was the star attraction at five recent Ohio political fund-raisers held on Montgomery’s behalf... The Cleveland school voucher case is currently before the U.S. Supreme Court, and Starr is still representing the State of Ohio. While Starr was hired by Montgomery, he is an independent contractor, not a state employee. At this time, the Ohio Ethics Commission is reviewing whether it is proper for a state officeholder to function simultaneously in a political position." With a GOP Governor, Starr will get a medal, not jail time. Defeat ALL Republicans!
