Self-Wounded Dole Defends His Attacks on Kerry
Bob Dole

"Dole said Kerry called him to express 'disappointment' over his comments Sunday that the Massachusetts senator had won 'three Purple Hearts and never bled that I know of. I mean, they're all superficial wounds.' Dole's suggestion that Kerry 'never bled' runs counter to US Navy records showing that Kerry, who also won a Bronze Star and a Silver Star for bravery, still carries shrapnel in his left thigh from a February 1969 firefight. 'There's respect there,' Dole said Monady. 'We were in the Senate together. But we're talking about the presidential race, and I tweaked him a little on the Purple Hearts.' 'I just wanted him to get off Bush's back and have his people get off Bush's back,' Dole said." Get off BUSH's back??? The Swifties are getting wall-to-wall TV coverage for their Kerry lies. Call Dole's office at 202-654-4848 and demand a full apology to Kerry!

How the GOP and Bob Dole Exaggerated and/or Lied about Dole's War Service in 1996
Bob Dole

An article by former CIA officer Robert Ellis, who served with the 10th Mountain Division in WWII in the August 12/19 1996 issue of the Nation" dismantles most of the extravagant "war hero exploit" claims made by the GOP and Bob Dole in campaign 1996. For example, Dole's first wound, in the night patrol, was self-inflicted (a story the candidate once told himself), but that fact does not appear in an extremely laudatory profile the G.O.P. distributes. As to Dole's much touted TWO Bronze stars: "The Army's Personnel Records Center says he received only one, and his separation notice confirms this. It appears that if Dole received two Bronze Stars, the second would have been awarded under a policy introduced in 1947 in which the medal was automatically given to all holders of the Combat Infantryman's Badge." Yet Dole has joined the bandwagon to trash Kerry!

LOL! Mr. Viagra Wants Kerry to Apologize for Having Courage of Conviction
Bob Dole

"Dole told CNN's 'Late Edition' 'One day, he's saying that we were shooting civilians, cutting off their ears, cutting off their heads, throwing away his medals or his ribbons ... next day, he's standing there, I want to be president because I'm a Vietnam veteran. Maybe he should apologize to all the other 2.5 million veterans who served.'" LOL! Apologize for what? Realizing war is hell? This makes Kerry MORE honorable, because he had BOTH the courage to risk his life for the country AND the courage to speak out when he saw its actions were wrong. That, Mr. Viagra, is what a real man does! "Dole added: 'And here's, you know, a good guy, a good friend.'" So what's the difference, Bob? When you stab your friends in the back you don't twist the knife? After hiding state-side from Pearl Harbor to well after D-Day Dole didn't make it into WWII until a few weeks before Berlin fell! Call Bob Dole's office 202-654-4848 and tell him to apologize to Kerry!

Bob Dole LIES About Kerry's Medals
Bob Dole

NY Times reports, "'John Kerry's a hero,' Bob Dole told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. 'But what I will always quarrel about are the Purple Hearts. I mean, the first one, whether he ought to have a Purple Heart - he got two in one day, I think...' Mr. Kerry did not receive two Purple Hearts for events of the same day. He received them for the events of Dec. 2, 1968, Feb. 20, 1969, and March 13, 1969. Mr. Kerry often acknowledges that his wounds were not severe, but he still has shrapnel in his left thigh from the firefight that led to his second Purple Heart. When Mr. Blitzer pointed out that Mr. Kerry had said on 'Meet the Press' earlier this year that he had gone too far in his original Congressional testimony, Mr. Dole responded: 'Maybe he should apologize to all the other 2.5 million veterans who served.'" Dole should apologize to Kerry for LYING about his medals. And Bush should apologize to the 2.5 million veterans who fought - and died - IN HIS PLACE!

Bob Dole's First Purple Heart was Self-Inflicted!
Bob Dole

Robert Ellis writes of Dole's first Purple Heart: "He ruefully confesses in his 1988 autobiography that his wound was self-inflicted: 'As we approached the enemy, there was a brief exchange of gunfire. I took a grenade in hand, pulled the pin, and tossed it in the direction of the farmhouse. It wasn't a very good pitch (remember, I was used to catching passes, not throwing them). In the darkness, the grenade must have struck a tree and bounced off. It exploded nearby, sending a sliver of metal into my leg -- the sort of injury the Army patched up with Mercurochrome and a Purple Heart.' The wound was so minor that he led another patrol two nights later. He does not mention that others were also injured by his misguided throw -- which Woodruff's account attributes to an enemy machine gun."
