Proposal: All Taxpayers Should Be Automatically Registered To Vote
Bob Fertik blogs, "Here's a simple proposal: Let's pass a law that automatically registers every taxpayer (and dependent) to vote. Why? Because the current voter registration system is insane - and because it would be so easy to do. All taxpayer records are computerized. They are kept exceptionally clean, so there are very few duplicates or errors... Politically, it's a win-win. Republicans would love this system because fraud would be practically non-existent. Democrats would love this system because every eligible citizen would be automatically registered to vote, saving hundreds of millions in voter registration drives and voter protection campaigns. Meg Laughlin of Knight Ridder has written an important article about Bush's time at Project P.U.L.L. in 1973 - while Bush was AWOL from the National Guard. Laughlin's article offers important evidence that Bush's work with P.U.L.L. was indeed community service, as J.H. Hatfield argued in "Fortunate Son" - the biography that led to Hatfield's suicide (hornsandhalos.com). On Feb. 13, Scott McClellan refused to tell the Helen Thomas whether Bush performed community service. But at long last, the truth about Bush's community service in 1973 is coming out! NY Daily News reports, "There isn't a thimble-full of doubt that Bush had 'something foreign' under his suit jacket during the first two debates, master tailor Frank Shattuck concluded yesterday after studying photos. 'There's definitely something there, in between the shoulder blades,' he said, checking pictures from both debates. 'I can't say what it is, but it's not hidden very well. They should have come to me. I can hide a pistol under the breast.' Photos of the mysterious bulges have clogged the Internet in recent days... Shattuck's best guess at what the foreign object was: maybe a back brace or some kind of body armor. He said a wire was possible, but he was mystified at the obvious placement between the shoulder blades. 'Then again, maybe all [Bush's] winking was at the guy feeding him information,' Shattuck, 43, joked. 'And he kept jumping off that stool like he just got an answer.'" Now, FINALLY, we have a simple answer: Bush developed a 'fear of flying,' possibly influenced by his drinking. Below are two articles based on interviews with Janet Linke, the widow of the F102A pilot (Jan Peter Linke) who had to replace Bush when he quit flying in 1972. On the day George Bush spoke to the National Guard Association, Bob Fertik writes: "On September 6, 2000, Bush spoke at the annual conference of the American Legion in Milwaukee, WI. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, here is how Bush introduced himself: 'George Bush, Post 77, reporting for duty,' Bush said as he took the stage at the Midwest Express Center, wearing the American Legion hat of the post he belongs to in Houston. Unfortunately Mr. Bush was not entitled to wear that hat; in doing so, he was impersonating a veteran. Until now, no one has questioned the photo of Bush wearing a veteran's hat... I challenge any reader to prove that George Bush is entitled to call himself a Veteran. Bush's military records are available below."
Bob Fertik blogs, "While the media is breathlessly trying to prove CBS broadcast fraudulent AWOL memos, three other networks committed fraud this week - yet no one but Salon's Eric Boehlert noticed. All 3 networks gave time to retired Lt. Col. John 'Bill' Calhoun, who claims he saw Bush performing drills in Alabama in the SUMMER of 1972. There's only one problem with Calhoun's story - Bush's OWN records show Bush didn't get credit for any time until October. We don't need typewriter experts to prove that October is not in the SUMMER - making Calhoun's statements an obvious fraud.! Of course it's been 32 years and people's memories fade, so on 2-24-04, Democrats.com submitted a FOIA request for Lt. Calhoun's records, to see if his drill dates overlapped with Bush's (http://democrats.com/display.cfm?id=199). However, in February the White House ordered the Pentagon to reject ALL FOIA requests - so the truth remains a mystery."
The media is buzzing with the possibility that the Killian memos broadcast on 60 Minutes are forgeries. The truth hangs on whether any commonly-used typewriters in the 60's-70's had proportional spacing and superscripts. The Boston Globe has abandoned its quest for the truth about Bush's grounding and AWOL during his National Guard duty, and now is attacking John Kerry's military record. In an open letter to Globe reporter Michael Kranish, Bob Fertik documents Dan Bartlett's latest lies. We demand complete and truthful answers to the 2 questions posed by Walter Robinson of the Globe back on Feb. 14: why Bush went AWOL for many months in 1972-73, and why Bush was grounded.

Bush - whose own election was dubious - has seized monarchical powers in sending this nation into war without any legitimate congressional declaration of war or equivalent congressional action. He has lied to the Congress and to the American people about the rationale for the war. He has imprisoned American citizens without charges and denied them access to lawyers and the courts. He has thus trampled on the Constitution and he has violated his oath of office. This nation is at a crossroads. These are not simply issues to be debated in a presidential election. Bob Fertik writes, "For Scott McClellan, any attempt to examine these documents in greater detail - or to find out what Bush actually did after April 1972 - is 'trolling for trash.' By accident, McClellan may have revealed the 'trash' that really scares the White House. A reporter named Elisabeth innocently asked McClellan about Bush's failed flight physical - which is at the heart of explanation for why Bush went AWOL in April 1972. McClellan... repeated his 'trolling for trash' and 'gutter politics' mantras five times. Hey Scott, let's get something straight: we are the taxpayers who pay your salary. You work for us, as you will quickly discover if you are handed a subpoena. And we, the taxpayers, are trolling for truth. So when you accuse us of 'gutter politics' and 'trolling for trash,' we're not going to be intimidated. In fact, you're just inspiring us to dig deeper into the facts you want to hide: lies, dirty tricks, drinking, drugs, arrests, coverups, and criminal conspiracy."

Bush in his 5th year of service in the Texas Air National Guard. This new document exposes contradictions in Bush's account of his AWOL years (1972-73) and highlights the need for a Special Prosecutor to investigate criminal tampering with George W. Bush's military records."
From CalPundit: "First, payroll records alone are simply not enough. If Bush wants to put this controversy to rest, he needs to commit to opening up his complete record. So far he appears to hedging mightily on this. Second, many of these documents have been available for years. It's just that no one ever thought to look for them. Bob Fertik of Democrats.com... got copies of the ARF attendance records back in 2000 via a FOIA request, something that any reporter could have done as well... There are at least two good reasons to be skeptical about Bush's story: (1) some of it simply doesn't add up and (2) he has refused to release his entire military record. Considering the trouble it's causing, why would he do that unless there were something awfully embarrassing in there? Bottom line: if Bush's story is really true, he can put a stop to all this speculation instantly by simply ordering all the relevant archives to release his entire record, warts and all. Why won't he?"

In order to learn the truth, we truly need everything in all of his files, including his service records, tax records, medical records, and disciplinary records. Some of these records appear to be unavailable because they were removed from Bush's files, perhaps criminally. In these cases, Bush should order anyone who handled his documents to provide sworn affidavits about their activities. Other records have been withheld for privacy reasons. In these cases, Mr. Bush should issue a formal waiver of his privacy rights to all record-keeping branches of the National Guard, including federal and all state branches. Finally, some of these records may be in his personal or family files. In these cases Mr. Bush should instruct his personal staff to conduct a thorough review for any documents that would complete the public record."

It's official. Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. So sayest David Kay. That means everything Bush said about the threat from Iraq since his 'Axis of Evil' State of the Union address in January 2002 was a lie. Investigation? What is there to investigate? There is only one question: Why hasn't Bush been impeached?

It's well known that the president, former president, used some of his influence to get George Bush into the Texas National Guard. He then wanted to go to Alabama and work on a Senate campaign. Bob Fertik writes, "The case for AWOL is open and shut, because Bush was absent without leave on several occasions... But the case for desertion is less clear. The question is whether Bush meant his AWOL to be permanent. Put another way, did Bush abandon his commitment to be a pilot in the Texas Air National Guard? Given the totality of circumstances, we believe the answer to this question is Yes, making Bush indeed a 'deserter.' It may be too late to try this case in a military court. But as we enter the 2004 election - an election in which Bush's single most important claim is his record as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces he abandoned when he was young enough to fight - this case can be tried in the court of public opinion. The Democrats should fight this battle, because it goes to the heart of Bush's lack of fitness to be Commander-in-Chief. And this is a battle the Democrats will win, because millions of Americans are outraged that Bush lied to them about the Iraq war."

On behalf of the 250,000 readers of Democrats.com News, I am writing to find out why CNN refuses to report the results of YOUR OWN latest poll, which shows Bush's lead over Howard Dean dropping to only 5% (51%-46%), down from 12% in November. Since this poll has a margin of error of +/- 4%, Dean is nearly tied with Bush. The obvious headline should be: "Howard Dean is Nearly Tied with Bush." But reporting this clear and simple fact would incur the wrath of Karl Rove, who wants you to convince the American people that Howard Dean is "unelectable" - in direct contradiction to the truth. The fact that you refuse to report the results of your OWN poll confirms what all Democrats know - that CNN is a propaganda arm of the Republican Party, barely distinguishable from FOX News. Investigative reporter John Buchanan broke 60 years of silence recently when he uncovered documents showing Prescott Bush's business was seized by Congress in 1942 for trading with the enemy. But the NY Times reported on 12-2-02 that 'the administration has held back whatever intelligence it has collected about Iraq's activities.' And on 12-4-02, top U.N. inspector Demetrius Perricos declared 'we are not getting all the intelligence that Bush is getting.' On 12-5-02, Ari Fleischer repeatedly refused to say whether Perricos's charge was true. Bush insists that a 'material breach' of 1441 is grounds for a U.S. invasion of Iraq. But what are the consequences if Bush - not Saddam - is in 'material breach' of 1441? And what obligation does the media have to use as much vigor to investigate alleged US breaches as uses for alleged Iraqi breaches?"

Fox's Bill O'Reilly couldn't debate Democrats.com's Bob Fertik on the facts, so O'Reilly resorted to name-calling and ultimately threw Bob off the air. After Fertik left - and could not defend himself - O'Reilly awarded "The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day" to Fertik's claim that the latest CBS poll showed a majority opposed to Bush's War in Iraq. O'Reilly said, "When asked by CBS, 'Do you approve or disapprove of the US taking military action against Iraq to try to remove Saddam Hussein from power?' 68% of Americans approved, 26% disapproved. Once again, this is a No Spin Zone. We are not going to tolerate deception by anyone because it is ridiculous, all right?" But the same poll reported 61% said the US needs to wait for its allies before taking any action against Iraq, while only 31% said Iraq presents such a clear danger to American interests that the US needs to act now, even without the support of its allies. 'Earth to Bush: No Iraq war,' read a 1,500-square foot sign, held up with weather balloons, that was towed by a barge along the East River on Thursday morning." How can we arrive at this conclusion? In part, we rely upon the White House's own version of 911, as told to the Washington Post. While the White House admits that Bush gave the shootdown order, the Pentagon denies it actually shot down Flight 93. However, a careful analysis of all available evidence points to a shootdown as the most likely cause of the crash of Flight 93 - thus making George W. Thank heavens for the Internet - if Democrats.com had not run the story on the plight of former-NASA scientist Dian Hardison last Friday night, her case very likely may have been used by the Bushes (both George and Jeb) and John Ashcroft as a springboard to begin a purge of America's liberal intelligentsia. Thanks to Bush operatives, when Dian emerged from jail Thursday (before the Democrats.com story had a chance to get the word out), a swarm of apparently hostile reporters greeted her to get a look at the "blond terrorist"!! In a letter to House Speaker Dennis Hastert, Bush wrote, "In the wake of the failed attempt to overthrow President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, I too have taken time to reflect on my actions in office. In the course of my Presidential campaign, I made many promises that I have failed to keep. These included preserving the Social Security Trust Fund and giving seniors a prescription drug benefit. I also promised to restore honor and integrity to the White House, by imposing the strictest ethical standards on my appointees, including those from Enron. I promised the world a 'humble' foreign policy, and peace in the Middle East. By these standards, I believe I have presided over a failed Presidency, and have therefore decided the only way I can honor my promises to the American people is to resign."

But on domestic issues, Bush [is] more interested in rewarding his contributors with special favors in his energy plan, or multi-trillion-dollar tax cuts, or drilling in the wilderness of mining in the national parks, or logging in the national forests. That's why they're so afraid of Enron. Because it exposes them for the whores they are... The record is full of examples of Enron getting special favors from Bush for years before that. So we must ask: why all of a sudden was Enron cut off? Could it be because it was broke??? ... Book this: Junior is gonna join Poppy in the Hall of Failed Presidents, Democrats are going to win both chambers of the Congress, and we might actually one day have a Supreme Court that applies laws instead of the country club bylaws." Democrats.com, which was the first group to call for a Special Prosecutor for the Enron investigation, announced the launch of a special Enrongate Web site and an Internet advertising campaign to build public support for a Special Prosecutor. The efforts by Democrats.com include posting an Internet petition for a Special Prosecutor, which has garnered over 2,700 signatures in three days; creating an in-depth Enrongate Web site at http://democrats.com/enron ; and launching an Internet advertising campaign. The animated banner ad uses tongue-in-cheek humor to highlight Mr. Bush's relationship to Ken Lay. "Enron gave $574,550 to George W. Bush. Bush says, 'I did not have business relations with that man, Kenneth Lay!' Sound familiar? America needs a Special Prosecutor!" The ad will be viewed by 1 million Internet users on 7,000 web sites in the coming days. Democrats.com has also appealed to its supporters to donate additional funds to reach millions of additional Internet users.
Democrats.com co-founder Bob Fertik debated Enrongate on the BBC's popular "Newsnight" TV show. Bob debated Christopher Horner, a former lobbyist for Enron, a leading opponent of the Kyoto Treaty on global warming, and a flack at the right-wing Competitive Enterprise Institute. Bob highlighted the intimate connections between Enron and Bush, and called for a Special Prosecutor. Horner blamed - guess who - BILL CLINTON!! One day after John Ashcroft recused himself from the Enrongate criminal investigation and handed it to Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson, Democrats.com has learned that Thompson himself had financial ties to Enron. Thompson was a partner at the law firm of King & Spalding from 1986 until his appointment as Deputy AG in 2001. "King & Spalding has represented numerous subsidiaries of Enron, including Enron Global LNG, Enron Global Markets, and Enron Energy Services," according to Democrats.com co-founder Bob Fertik. "As a former law partner, Larry Thompson profited personally from the firm's work for Enron. Even if Thompson did not work directly on Enron matters - information which is not publicly available - Thompson cannot avoid the 'appearance of impropriety' which is fatal for such an important investigation," Fertik said. Democrats.com is calling upon George W. Bush to go outside his conflict-ridden Administration to appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate Enrongate.
In Washington DC, the Bush Administration and the Republican Party have very different priorities. Instead of helping New York rise from the ashes, they would rather let us dig our way out of the rubble, by ourselves. Instead of assisting the many struggling families who need jobs, food and shelter, they would rather aid the fortunate few who own powerful corporations, oil fields, and mansions. Instead of showing the world America's pride in our unmatched system of open justice, they would rather conduct secret trials with secret evidence collected with secret methods by secret agents.
My fellow New Yorkers, the Bush Administration and the Republican Party have their priorities wrong.
A recent review of the Florida 2000 election results by a [media] consortium...wrongly concluded that...Bush still would have won the state and the presidency if the recounts had not been halted by the U.S. Supreme Court. "They [media outlets] chose to spin the outcome as a victory for Bush," Bob Fertik...told CNSNews.com. "They chose to validate Bush's theft of the presidency rather than look at the facts..." When all the legal votes were counted, Gore won by margins ranging from 42 to 171 votes, depending on the standard used for...chads. Moreover, if the voting machines had accurately recorded the intent of Florida's voters, Gore would have won by more than 25,000 votes…the only scenarios that supported a Bush victory were those where some legal votes were not counted, Fertik said. "If you count the votes, Gore wins. If you don't count the votes, Bush wins. In a democracy, you're supposed to count the votes," he said.

On Saturday, the NY Times declared that Congressional Democrats were thrilled to have George W. Bush leading America's War Against Terrorism. "Bush Winning Gore Backers' High Praises," announced the story by Richard Berke. He writes, "Many Democrats who once dismissed Mr. Bush as too naïve and too dependent on advisers to steer the United States through an international crisis are now praising his and his advisers' performance. Some are even privately expressing satisfaction that Mr. Gore, who tried to make his foreign affairs expertise an issue in the campaign, did not win." My response can be summarized in one simple expletive: bull.

Writes the Village Voice's Donna Ladd: "'Katherine Harris belongs in jail, not the U.S. Congress,' wrote Democrats.com founder Bob Fertik... Harris violated a list of state and federal laws including the Votings Rights Act, the Ballot Design Law, and the American With Disabilities Act. They are collecting signatures (and donations) to encourage Florida Attorney General Bob Butterworth and Leon County State Attorney Willie Meggs to bring up charges against Harris on 14 points associated with the 2000 presidential election. For one, Harris contracted with a private company for a 'fraudulent felon purge,' costing Democrat Al Gore thousands of votes, the group alleges. [She] allowed Republican operatives to work inside her office, draft speeches for her, and coordinate with Bush-Cheney attorneys on interpretation of election laws. And she allowed county canvassing boards to count 680 clearly illegal overseas military ballots, including some cast after Election Day."
Before the terrorist attack, September was destined to be a difficult month for George W. Bush. In the wake of the attack on America, George W. Bush presented America with a remarkably idealistic set of goals. On the day of the attack, Bush declared: "We go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world." If we are to truly fight for freedom, how should we go about it?

Even though 58% of Americans are still angry about the stolen election, the corporate media adamantly refuses to acknowledge our existence. But according to AlterNet, there "are now approximately 800 sites whose mission is to analyze, attack and especially ridicule the 43rd president of the United States." According to Bob Fertik of Democrats.com, these sites are just one manifestation of the "tremendous anger and frustration felt by an enormous amount of Americans" toward the White House. He was given this awesome power to conduct an independent, non-partisan investigation of a specific allegation - the Whitewater hoax. Instead, Ken Starr used this power to conspire with Republicans (including Paula Jones's lawyers and Congressional Republicans) in a partisan destroy-Clinton campaign. In the process, he put the entire country through one year of hell and destroyed the Clinton Presidency and Al Gore's campaign - not to mention ruining the lives of Susan McDougal and Julie Hiatt Steele. If you can't see the difference, then you should be working for Karl Rove - you'd fit right in!

It has been more than three months since the U.S. Supreme Court violated all principles of law and stopped the counting of votes in Florida in order to declare George W. Bush the President of the United States. With the passage of time, we have learned many details about how Bush stole Florida, but the media remains adamantly opposed to examining these details. Here are some of the many crucial questions we believe the media needs to ask about the Florida election in order to find out the truth.
"If you count every vote, Gore wins." So says Doug Hattaway, a former Gore campaign spokesman. When USA Today declares "Newspapers' Recount Shows Bush Prevailed In Fla. Vote," they are simply lying.

The Miami Herald and USA Today claim that their recount of Miami-Dade proves that Bush won Florida. This claim is a lie, because Gore's gain of 682 votes in Palm Beach would have forced Katherine Harris to certify Gore as the winner by 194 votes. But this four-county recount was rejected by the Florida Supreme Court, which ordered a recount in ALL of Florida's counties. As of today, Al Gore leads in this recount by 1,017 votes, but we are still waiting for the media to complete the recount before we know who actually won Florida.

Joe Allbaugh, George W. Bush's nominee to head the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA), has been revealed to be a "Named Conspirator" in
Funeralgate, a Texas whistleblower lawsuit against George W. Bush,
according to documents published on the Internet by Democrats.com, the
largest independent news and community website for Democrats. Allbaugh was campaign manager of Bush's Presidential campaign, and is
widely regarded as one of Bush's most powerful aides, along with
strategist Karl Rove and spokeswoman Karen Hughes. Together, the three are
known as the "Iron Triangle." Allbaugh is scheduled to testify before the Senate Government Affairs
Committee on Tuesday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m. "Joe Allbaugh appears to have lied to the Senate Government Oversight
Committee in response to its question about 'Funeralgate,'" said Fertik.
"In the coming days, Democratic and Republican members of the committee
should carefully examine Allbaugh's evasive answer - and pose additional
detailed questions - to get to the truth about Allbaugh's involvement in
this scandal, which reaches all the way up to the President of the United
States," Fertik concluded.
