Rush Limbaugh

Limbaugh Wants to Kick His Case Up to His Pals in the Supreme Court So They Can 'Fix It'
23-Oct-04
Rush Limbaugh

If this doesn't just say it all about the arrogance of the rightwingers! They have used the US courts like their personal law firms - for everything from stealing a presidential election to overturning regulations. Gotta problem? Just toss your army of lawyer-lobbyists a few million and kick it up to the Supreme Court - they'll "fix it" for ya. Now we have Rush 'Blowhard Junkie" Limbaugh hoping to do the same. He's trying to kick his sleazy druggie case up to the Supremes hoping they will change the laws of the land to accommodate his need to hide the sordid facts of his drug history and abuse of the medical system. Think of the TENS OF THOUSANDS of addicts who are now rotting in jail for far, far less than what Limbaugh did. Where's the Supreme court "treatment" for them?

Limbaugh Compares Democrats and Al Qaeda as America's 'Two Enemies'
18-Jun-04
Rush Limbaugh

Rush is getting REAL nervous about the idea that Bush could and should be impeached for the torture of Iraqi prisoners. On 6/17/04 he went on a tirade about how Democrats would impeach Bush "to destroy him and his presidency." Then he expanded his slander by saying Democrats "want to derail the war on terrorism. They want to derail American leadership in the world. They want to derail the economic progress that we are making." Then when a caller pointed out a few of Bush's Iraq lies, Rush went ballistic. "It really is placing us at even greater risk because you then give us two enemies to overcome, Al-Qaeda and the American left. It's tough enough to beat Al-Qaeda and beat you guys at the same time, but we will."

Three-time Loser Limbaugh Faces Divorce
11-Jun-04
Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh and his wife Marta are calling it quits. Limbaugh claims it's a mutual split for "personal reasons" but we suspect Marta finally just had enough. I mean how many self-respecting people would volunteer to stay with a pill-popping, money laundering, doctor shopping, sadistic pervert (Limbaugh likened the Abu Ghraib photos to, say, a hot Britney Spears videos!)? This was the third marriage for both Limbaugh, 53, and his 44-year-old wife (gotta love those family values!). The couple were married by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Remember him - the guy that got turned on by images of pubic hair on coke bottles and harassing female workers?

Sign the Petition to Keep Drug Addict/Pervert Limbaugh from Being Inflicted on our Troops!
26-May-04
Rush Limbaugh

Media Matters is petitioning for the immediate removal of drug addict/S&M pervert Rush Limbaugh from Armed Forces Radio air waves, where he is currently being paid by taxpayer dollars to disseminate obscene content and hatespeak to our soldiers. Petition excerpt: "Mr. Limbaugh...has spent the past four weeks condoning and trivializing the abuse, torture, rape and possible murder of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. guards at the Abu Ghraib prison...Both you and pResident Bush have rightly denounced the acts that took place at Abu Ghraib - but American service men and women abroad are getting the wrong message when the Department of Defense simultaneously broadcasts Mr. Limbaugh's condoning of what you have called "fundamentally un-American" acts." Not only that, it offends our soldiers, most of whom are decent, compassionate people.

Texas Radio Station WBAP Opts to Defend Pervert Limbaugh Instead of the Bill of Rights
20-May-04
Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh is a twisted, aging drug addict whose 20 million listeners represent probably the entirety of Bush's core consitutency of assorted religious rightwingnuts, sanctimonious bigots, and stunningly uninformed (not to mention misinformed) throwbacks to the Confederacy. Like a contagious fungus, he should be exposed and contained, especially when he makes obscene comments, such as describing the torture of Iraqi prisoners as a "brilliant maneuver", "good old American pornography," and just plain good ole boy fun. Yet when media matters tried to air a PAID ad using Rush's own sicko words to alert the public to the "fungus amungus," WBAP News/Talk Radio refused to run the ad, opting to protect Limbaugh over the Bill of Rights.

Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Pervert who is Into S&M Porn as Well as Dope
06-May-04
Rush Limbaugh

So here's your rep for the "moral majority": Rush Limbaugh, a drug addict, money laundering blowhard whom, it now emerges, is into S&M and views pornographic abuse of prisoners as a turn-on similar to watching a Britney Spears video: Here's Rush's take on the abuse: "I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You of heard of need to blow some steam off? And these American prisoners of war -- have you people noticed who the torturers are? Women! The babes! The babes are meting out the torture. You know, if you look at -- if you, really, if you look at these pictures, I mean, I don't know if it's just me, but it looks just like anything you'd see Madonna, or Britney Spears do on stage." Rush no longer just makes us sick...he makes our skin crawl. But of course, CLEAR CHANNEL will continue to cheer him on.

Can't Rush Fight His Own Battles Without These Bleeding Hearts?
19-Feb-04
Rush Limbaugh

The Palm Beach Post reports: "Arguing that privacy rights of all Floridians are under attack, Rush Limbaugh's attorneys asked a court Tuesday to return the talk-show host's medical records and ban prosecutors from using them. Limbaugh attorney Roy Black also accused prosecutors of deliberately circumventing state laws to get those documents, rather than the standard procedure of using a subpoena, first notifying Limbaugh and giving him a chance to respond, according to documents. Limbaugh's attorneys were joined by the American Civil Liberties Union in their arguments to the 4th District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach. A spokesman for the state attorney's office had no comment Tuesday afternoon. The office maintains that it has scrupulously protected Limbaugh's rights as it investigates him for alleged doctor-shopping, a third-degree felony defined as when a patient dupes two or more doctors into prescribing overlapping medications." Hey Rushbo, Real Men don't need the ACLU! ;-)

If Rush Gets Off Easy, It Will Reek of a Double Standard
17-Feb-04
Rush Limbaugh

"Will the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office charge Rush Limbaugh or walk away from what would be a controversial, difficult and minutely dissected prosecution? 'If Rush gets a break, [State Attorney] Krischer's going to hear from the local defense bar,' said Gregg Lerman, a West Palm Beach defense lawyer who has known Krischer for almost 20 years. Lerman, like many of the other defense lawyers in the county, has clients who face felony charges for illegal possession of prescription drugs... Which brings Lerman to muse about Limbaugh and the maid's allegation that she provided the talk-show host with 11,900 OxyContin tablets -- an amount that makes Ratliff's bottle of 160 pills seem minuscule. If Limbaugh gets off easy, there will be a lot of James Ratliffs getting in line. 'I don't think Krischer would want to prosecute Limbaugh, but little people are going to prison for having next to nothing,' said Jim Eisenberg, a criminal defense lawyer."

State Attorney Accuses AG of Impeding Investigation of Rush
30-Jan-04
Rush Limbaugh

"State Attorney Barry Krischer on Thursday accused Attorney General Charlie Crist's office of trying to impede the Rush Limbaugh prescription fraud investigation for political reasons. Krischer expected Crist's office to file the state's response to Limbaugh's appeal of a decision to unseal the commentator's medical records in the prescription fraud case. Crist's office pulled out of the appeal one hour before a Jan. 12 deadline imposed by the appeals court, said Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for Krischer's office. 'We obviously think that was to put us into a position so we could not respond,' Edmondson said. A prosecutor from Krischer's office was able to file the brief in time."

Prosecutors Refuse Rehab Deal For Limbaugh, Insist on Guilty Plea
26-Jan-04
Rush Limbaugh

The Florida Sun-Sentinel reports: "Palm Beach County prosecutors rejected an overture last month from Rush Limbaugh's attorneys that would have allowed the conservative commentator to enter drug rehabilitation rather than face criminal charges for prescription drug abuse. Prosecutors say they think they have evidence that Limbaugh committed at least 10 felonies by illegally obtaining overlapping drug prescriptions, according to documents released to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Thursday... They offered to end the investigation if Limbaugh pleaded guilty to a single felony for 'doctor shopping' and agreed to a three-year term of probation." Yeah! Make Rush do the perp walk! Too bad there isn't a charge on the books for malicious hypocrisy...

State Ordered to Surrender Limbaugh's Medical Records; ACLU to Help Rush!
13-Jan-04
Rush Limbaugh

AP: "An appeals court on Tuesday ordered prosecutors to turn Rush Limbaugh's medical records over to the courts and keep them sealed until further review. The court also ruled that the American Civil Liberties Union can join the conservative talk show host in fighting to keep the documents private, creating an unlikely alliance in the case. Prosecutors say their investigation is stalled until they are able to review the medical records... They obtained search warrants for the files after learning Limbaugh received more than 2,000 painkillers, prescribed by four doctors in six months, at a pharmacy near his Palm Beach mansion... No criminal charges have been filed against Limbaugh. The ACLU joined the case Monday in support of the claim that Limbaugh's constitutional right to privacy has been violated." Hey Rush, what was that you've been saying about the ACLU all these years?

Rush's Medical Records Stay Sealed For Now
07-Jan-04
Rush Limbaugh

AP/CBS: "Rush Limbaugh's medical records will remain off-limits to prosecutors for at least 15 days more while his attorneys pursue an appeal, a judge ruled Monday. Limbaugh's attorneys asked for the extension while they appeal the judge's earlier decision allowing prosecutors to examine the files for evidence that the conservative radio commentator illegally purchased painkillers. However, prosecutors revealed at the hearing that their investigator had already looked at the records, reports the Palm Beach Post. Assistant State Attorney James Martz told Circuit Judge Jeffrey Winikoff that the information would remain confidential until the legal battle over the records is completed."

Did Rush Ever Have the Back Surgery He Says Caused His Addiction?
24-Dec-03
Rush Limbaugh

"'Limbaugh chose to take painkillers rather than have surgery. Surgery to reach the affected part of Limbaugh's spine could have threatened his voice and his career as a commentator, Black said.' In response, Greg Beato writes: 'Limbaugh's initial claim that he became hooked on painkillers after back surgery has always been shrouded in a little mystery, as he's never explained when and where he had that surgery, and there don't seem to be any articles about it from the time period when he suggest he had it ('94-'96). At some point in the development of this story, the notion of an additional surgery raised - the one that would have had to go through his neck and possibly jeapordize his voice/career. But the initial surgery never gets mentioned, and if this AP summary of Black's is accurate, he doesn't acknowledge it either. Instead, he seems to be suggesting that Limbaugh's addiction started not after taking pills in the wake of back surgery, but from avoiding surgery altogether."

Red-Handed Rush Caught Lying About Bank Withdrawals
24-Dec-03
Rush Limbaugh

Greg Beato writes: "In November, Limbaugh explained that all those near-$10,000 bank withdrawals that investigators were interested were not instances of money-laundering and had nothing to do with his drug addiction: 'The cash in question here, most of it had to do with the 2 1/2 year remodel we did for the home in Palm Beach... So just one of the many areas, the money was for travel, it was for food, it was for gratuities, as I was out and about and playing a lot of golf tournaments... I think the total amount of money they're talking about here comes to about $300,000 over 5 or 6 years. It's a lot of money, but given the amount of money I earn and so forth, it's pretty much in proportion with... what anybody else earns in terms of the percentage of walking-around money and cash that they use for things.' In December, apparently referring to all those near-$10,000 bank withdrawals, [Rush's lawyer] Roy Black stated that 'It's not money laundering to pay blackmail and extortion.'"

Judge Orders Rush's Medical Records Unsealed for Prosecutors, Not Public
23-Dec-03
Rush Limbaugh

"Prosecutors can examine Rush Limbaugh's medical records to determine whether he should be charged with 'doctor shopping' for prescription painkillers, a judge ruled Tuesday. Palm Beach Circuit Judge Jeffrey A. Winikoff denied the conservative commentator's request to keep the records sealed, but did say prosecutors cannot make the records public. The judge said the state has a 'compelling' interest in determining whether Limbaugh broke the law, trumping his right to keep his medical records private. Palm Beach County prosecutors insisted they need to review the records to determine how much Limbaugh's doctors knew about his frequent prescriptions for OxyContin, hydrocodone and other painkillers and whether he was 'doctor shopping.'"

'The Police Web is Tightening Around Rush'
13-Dec-03
Rush Limbaugh

"Rush Limbaugh's spin team came up with a secret plan to save their boss after the conservative commentator admitted he was addicted to painkillers, the Daily News learned yesterday. The plan involved taking up former Sen. Bob Dole's offer 'to help' the embattled radio jock - and suggesting he write a supportive letter to Newsweek magazine. The Oct. 13 memo...also recommended doing a survey of Rush's listeners to gauge their reaction to Limbaugh's embarrassing admission. 'If results are positive, we can use PR with stations, advertisers and media,' the memo states. 'If not, we don't have to publicize.'... Also yesterday, the National Enquirer reported that 'the police web is tightening around Rush Limbaugh' and that he could be arrested in days. Limbaugh's lawyer, Roy Black, yesterday called the tabloid story 'a pure fabrication' and a 'thinly veiled attempt to destroy Mr. Limbaugh's reputation and career.'"

Investigators Say Rush Engaged in 'Doctor Shopping' for Pills
04-Dec-03
Rush Limbaugh

"Investigators who raided the offices of Rush Limbaugh's doctors said in search warrants filed Thursday that the conservative radio commentator engaged in illegal drug use and 'doctor shopping' for prescription painkillers. The warrants - which name four doctors and several prescription drugs - show investigators were looking for records including prescription disbursements, appointment schedules, receipts and a medical questionnaire when they raided the offices Nov. 25. 'Mr. Limbaugh's actions violate the letter, and spirit' of the law that relates to doctor shopping, stated one of warrants, signed by Asim Brown, a law enforcement agent assigned to the state attorney's office anti-money laundering task force. Doctor shopping refers to looking for a doctor willing to prescribe drugs illegally. Limbaugh denied any wrongdoing to listeners on his radio show earlier Thursday and accused prosecutors in Palm Beach County of going on a 'fishing expedition.'"

"Investigators raided Rush Limbaugh's doctors' offices Thursday, saying in search warrants that the conservative radio commentator engaged in illegal drug abuse and 'doctor shopping' for prescription painkillers. The warrants show investigators were looking for Limbaugh's medical records, medical questionnaire, cash receipts, sections of the appointment book for Limbaugh, canceled checks, medical insurance forms, computerized records related to the ordering of narcotics, prescription forms, records of disbursing prescription drugs. 'Mr. Limbaugh's actions violate the letter, and spirit of ... 'doctor shopping,' stated one of warrants, signed by Asim Brown, a law enforcement agent assigned to an anti-money laundering task force at the State Attorney's Office. Limbaugh denied any wrongdoing to listeners on his radio show earlier in the day and accused prosecutors in Palm Beach County of going on a 'fishing expedition.'" Rush Claims Vast Left Wing Conspiracy
21-Nov-03
Rush Limbaugh

Jim Mooney writes: "Of course, Limbaugh is now making veiled paranoid threats that he will uncover a massive conspiracy to 'get him' regarding his money laundering! He is out to smear wicked 'leftie' law enforcement: Smear The Cops -- the standard ploy of criminals and nutcases. Shades of the Vast Rightwing Conspiracy for which Rush ridiculed Hillary Clinton. Like most bullies, he can dish it out but he can't take it. Palm Beach, populated almost entirely by conservative millionaires, has somehow become home to a 'VAST LEFT WING CONSPIRACY' TO GET RUSH. Sure, it is. The poor schmuck needs to get back into rehab before the pink elephants start shimmying past his mike. Or would it be pink donkeys? Anyway, it's obvious to me - It's Bill Clinton's Fault! He made Rush take all those pills and launder all that money. What an evil genius."

Paul M. writes us: "As you may have heard, Rush Limbaugh is off the air for one month while he is in rehab for his illegal oxycontin addiction. On his website he is asking that his fans send letters of support to his advertisers. They even put a link on the site. I am asking that you please join in the support (ha ha). Please click on the link below and show your support. Tell the advertisers: Rush is nothing but an addict and has no business telling people how to live their life. Rush is a hypocrite and an addict. Rush has always put down people who have an addiction but when he's an addict we should all pray for him. Rush, To Judgement
14-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

Jonathan Alter writes: "Because the sad case of Rush Limbaugh is also about the sad state of American politics. Things have reached a point where the health problems of a radio commentator might genuinely affect the outcome of the 2004 election. Most of Limbaugh's 20 million listeners are diehard Republicans, but millions are not. These non-dittohead independents are critical in the election. They have rightly concluded that he is a first-rate communicator and entertainer. They don't follow him slavishly but give him a hearing, which is a huge asset in politics. You can drive almost anywhere in the United States on any weekday and get a three-hour, undiluted, unrebutted and often persuasive advertisement for Resident Bush and the Republican Party. If Rush goes, so does the biggest megaphone in the GOP's elephant echo chamber."

A Florida Whistleblower Reveals Rush Limbaugh WON'T Be Prosecuted
11-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

Scoobie Davis reports: "'He did it.' I have received confirmation from a source either inside or close to the Palm Beach County state attorney's office investigation that there is ample evidence that the allegations by Wilma Cline and others that radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh had bought massive amounts of prescription drugs illegally over a four-year period. Notes: I was reluctant to post this information because I didn't want to hinder the investigation by reporting it. However, after some thought and research, I concluded that it would be appropriate; one thing that particularly motivated me was the realization that Limbaugh would probably not be prosecuted. Also, I did some further investigation to confirm the credibility of the source."

Flash a Little Light on Rush's Standard Bigotry and America is Revolted
03-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

"One irony of this controversy is that Limbaugh's comment was no more outrageous or off-base than dozens of things he says each week on his popular show... On his show, Limbaugh's views rarely get tested by contrary argument or corrected by fact police; his callers agree with and adore him. Those who would dare challenge his preconceptions, his tidy narrative of how liberals are the root of all evil, get little air time. Inside this cozy RushWorld, it's easy for him and his listeners to assume their views are the undisputed truth. It's interesting that it took only four weeks for Limbaugh to trip over his acid tongue on ESPN. That's not, as he would have it, a measure of the mainstream media's reflexive political correctness. It's a reflection of how out of touch he is with the majority of Americans who have a clue about what's really going on."

Rush on Drug-Users In 1995: 'Convict Them and Send Them Up the River'
03-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

"When you have a talk-radio show 15 hours a week, you have an awful lot of air to fill. On this particular day, which was Oct. 5, 1995, Rush was roaring about the scourge of illegal drug use. Even though blacks and whites break the drug laws in roughly equal percentages, he noted, black druggies go to prison far more often than white druggies do. But to the liberal-bashing host, this was no reason to ease up on blacks. 'What this says to me,' he told his listeners that day, 'is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.' Including zillionaire radio hosts? Well, maybe not."

Rush's Drug Abuse Probably Caused His Deafness
03-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh bought 4,350 painkillers in one 47-day period, so he was either selling the drugs or taking nearly 100 each day. On 9-10-01, the LA Times reported "A powerful and potentially addictive painkiller used by millions of Americans is causing rapid hearing loss, even deafness, in some patients who are misusing the drug. So far, at least 48 patients have been identified by doctors at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles and several other medical centers who have treated patients with sudden hearing loss. The hearing problems appear to be limited to people who abuse Vicodin and other chemically comparable prescription drugs by taking exceptionally high dosages for several months or more, doctors said."

Rush's Long History of Racist Demagogy
02-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

From FAIR: "As a young broadcaster in the 1970s, Limbaugh once told a black caller: 'Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.' A decade ago, after becoming nationally syndicated, he mused on the air: 'Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?' Limbaugh expressed his ire when Spike Lee urged that black schoolchildren get off from school to see his film Malcolm X: 'Spike, if you're going to do that, let's complete the education experience. You should tell them that they should loot the theater, and then blow it up on their way out.' In a similar vein, here is Limbaugh's mocking take on the NAACP, a group with a 90-year commitment to nonviolence: 'The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.' When Carol Moseley-Braun was in the Senate, the first black woman ever elected to that body, Limbaugh would play the 'Movin' On Up' theme song from TV's 'Jeffersons' when he mentioned her."

Corporate Rightwing Front Groups Swarm Like Flies to Rush's Defense
02-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

Rush's racist comments have proved to be a great way to flush out rightwing corporate front groups masquerading as "policy institutes" and "think tanks." They are coming out from under their rocks in droves to defend their favorite rightwing corporate front man. Here's a prime example: the National Center for Public Policy Research (don't you just love those phony grandiose titles!). In this press release planted in US Newswire, the group says complaints about Limbaugh's racist comments are "hypocritical, opportunistic, and silly." Which, of course, is precisely how we would describe Rush and his corporate front group supporters!

Rush's Drug Supplier Squeals to Prosecutors - With Tapes and E-mails!
02-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

"Talk-radio titan Rush Limbaugh is being investigated for allegedly buying thousands of addictive painkillers from a black-market drug ring. The moralizing motormouth was turned in by his former housekeeper - who says she was Limbaugh's pill supplier for four years. Wilma Cline, 42, says Limbaugh was hooked on the potent prescription drugs OxyContin, Lorcet and hydrocodone - and went through detox twice... Cline went to prosecutors after 4 years of drug deals that included clandestine handoffs in a Denny's parking lot. She said she wore a wire during her last 2 deliveries to the conservative commentator and gave the tapes to authorities. She also gave the Enquirer a ledger documenting how many pills she claimed to have bought for him - 4,350 in one 47-day period - and E-mails she claimed Limbaugh sent her. In one missive, Limbaugh pushed Cline to get more 'little blues' - code for OxyContin, the powerful narcotic nicknamed hillbilly heroin, she said."

Under Massive Pressure, Rush Limbaugh Quits ESPN
02-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

"Conservative radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh resigned Wednesday night from his weekend job as an analyst on ESPN's NFL pre-game show, three days after making what network officials described as 'insensitive and inappropriate' remarks about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. Limbaugh announced his decision in the wake of criticism stemming from his remarks Sunday that McNabb had received more credit than he deserved for the Eagles' success because the media had a vested interest in seeing a black quarterback succeed. 'My comments this past Sunday were directed at the media and were not racially motivated,' Limbaugh said. 'I offered an opinion. This opinion has caused discomfort to the crew, which I regret. I love NFL Sunday Countdown and do not want to be a distraction to the great work done by all who work on it. Therefore, I have decided to resign. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the show and wish all the best to those who make it happen.'"

Rush's Racist Attack on Donovan McNabb Enrages NFL
01-Oct-03
Rush Limbaugh

"Racially charged comments by radio-talk show host Rush Limbaugh about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb drew widespread media attention today - and calls for Limbaugh's firing from the ESPN National Football League pregame show on which he appears... Limbaugh, in discussing the talents of McNabb, who is African-American, said: 'I don't think he's been that good from the get-go. I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They're interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there's a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn't deserve. The defense carried this team.'... Several prominent Democratic politicians, including presidential hopefuls Howard Dean, Rev. Al Sharpton and retired Gen. Wesley Clark, called on ESPN to fire Limbaugh." Boycott ESPN and Disney!

But Rush, It's a GOP thing
18-Aug-03
Rush Limbaugh

"Rush Limbaugh blames liberals for [California's] budget, and gubernatorial crises without offering one example why. [He has good reason not to -- because they are due to Republican policies.] Deregulating the power industry and allowing some old cronies to steal billions of dollars is purely Republican. George W. Bush's economy is sure to be the first to lose jobs since Herbert Hoover, even further reducing the state's ability to raise desperately needed funds. This is the infamous 'trickle down theory' at work. The problem is the 'trickle' seems to go offshore, not toward creating jobs in America... The only thing California liberals are guilty of is buying into Republican economic fantasies, lies and greed."

The poor freepers are having a very difficult time accepting the idea that Rush in fact avoided military service because of a condition that was COMPLETELY operable. Obviously, if Rush truly wanted to defend America against the menace of Communism, he would have had some surgery and made a bee-line to the nearest Marine recruiting office - like some of the truly patriotic veterans who have posted on this topic. Rush, you're the biggest hypocrite in history.

Limbaugh is Caught Lying about his Anal Cyst Draft Evasion
11-Feb-03
Rush Limbaugh

Last December, a caller accused Rush of evading the draft in Vietnam by claiming a "boil on his butt." Rush cut him off and declared, "that is just a bunch of internet BS and hyperbole. Never happened. Was not the cause, wasn't the case." Since Rush called it "Internet BS", the good folks at snopes.com conducted an investigation. (Snopes.com is the definitive source for debunking Internet hoaxes.) Their conclusion: TRUE! Rush was declared ineligible for the draft after an examination by his doctor. Rush's biography cites an "inoperable pilonidal cyst" and "a football knee from high school." But Rush's football coach does not recall any injury (he played 1 year), and Rush himself has never mentioned the knee injury. That leaves only one possibility - the anal cyst. Hey Rush - maybe the cyst would go away if you pulled your head out!

Mike v. Rush: Limbaugh Boycott Has Advertisers Shaking in their Boots
30-Jan-03
Rush Limbaugh

CBS.MarketWatch.com reports, "Though still in its infancy, a letter-writing campaign aimed at advertisers on 'The Rush Limbaugh Show,' has already claimed a few choice scalps -- and hopes to soon have other marketers saying 'ditto.' Kicked off last week on the website of a group called Take Back The Media, the effort is generating a growing buzz among online progressives (or, if you prefer, 'liberals') -- along with hundreds of angry e-mails to companies that sponsor what it calls Limbaugh's 'hateful chortling and guffawing.' Michael Stinson, a Vietnam-era veteran, is co-founder of Take Back The Media. Obviously never a Rush fan, Stinson and his cohorts were content to largely ignore the king of reactionary talk radio -- until he weighed in on the recent anti-war protests, calling participants 'anti-American,' 'anti-capitalist' and 'communists,' among other terms. 'He just went too far,' said Stinson. 'Don't call me anti-American. I served this country.'" You Go, Michael!

Thom Hartmann writes, "Modern talk radio as a major force in America started in 1926, when Catholic priest Father Charles E. Coughlin took to the airwaves. By the mid-1930s, as many as a full third of the entire nation - an estimated 45 million people - listened to his weekly broadcasts [until he became a far right-winger]... A generation later, a new Father Coughlin emerged in the form of Rush Limbaugh... Conservative investors and programmers were looking to unseat the fabulously popular liberal talker Alan Berg and bring 'balance' to America's airwaves. (In June of 1984, the year Rush began 'issues talk' on Sacramento's KFBK, Berg was machine-gunned to death by right-wingers claiming they were from the Aryan Nation.) Within four years, Rush rose to national status by offering his program free of charge to stations across the nation. Station managers, not being business dummies, laid off local talent and picked up Rush's free show."

Limbaugh Nailed on His Own Show: It 'Boils' Down to the Hypocritical Stance of Chickenhawks like Rush and National Guard Deserter Bush

Joe Conason writes: "A plucky Salon reader...sent a fascinating memo Wednesday about the methods he has used to bring a bit of balance to Rush Limbaugh's radio show...'His show started with the usual relentless demonizing of liberals, this time John Kerry from Massachusetts, a Vietnam War hero...When Rush tried to bring up the smear about him not having his troops behind him, I explained that Kerry had been referring to how he won his Silver Star rescuing crew members of his fast-boat who had fallen overboard, and been wounded even while fending off a Vietcong machine gun nest. I then asked Rush how Bush might respond if, in the debates, Kerry asked him where he had been when he didn't show up for his plum [National Guard] assignment for a year. Or for that matter, how [Rush] could disparage a war hero when he himself had dodged the Vietnam Draft by claiming to have a boil on his butt.'"

Bush ChickenHawk Wall of Shame -- Rush Limbaugh Dodged Vietnam with 'Anal Cysts' (between his ears?)

The New Hampshire Gazette has published The Chickenhawk Database. "A chickenhawk is a term often applied to public persons - generally male, who (1) tend to advocate, or are fervent supporters of those who advocate military solutions to political problems, and who have personally (2) declined to take advantage of a significant opportunity to serve in uniform during wartime'... Topping the list are George W Bush, who was mostly AWOL in the Texas National Guard, and Dick Cheney, who had 'other priorities.' [Most Bushies make the Chickenhawk list -- Andrew Card, Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, and John Ashcroft. Warlike Members of Congress include Trent Lott, Dick Armey, Bob Barr, Tom DeLay, Phil Gramm, and Dennis Hastert. Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas make the list. Also Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Newt Gingrich. Rudy Guiliani. Charlton Heston.] 'Anal cysts' kept Rush Limbaugh from the fray."

Hapless Limbaugh Throws Mud at Clinton -- And Hits Bush!

Rush Limbaugh

E.J. Dionne writes, "'We have no choice but to address the policies and decisions, made at the very highest level of our government, which helped bring us to this point," an influential political voice said less than a month after Sept. 11. 'To do otherwise is to be irresponsible and unprepared in the face of a ruthless enemy, whose objective is to kill many more Americans.' [Were these the words of a partisan Democrat -- seeking a rationale for bashing Bush? No. They were offered by Rush Limbaugh in a Wall Street Journal op-ed piece.] Limbaugh wasn't talking about Bush. He was blaming Bill Clinton. As Ross Perot might say, isn't that interesting? [Rush says] a comparably serious inquiry into intelligence and bureaucratic failures during the current administration is outrageous partisanship." All we can say is -- hope you choke on the crow, Rush!
