Democrats.com Launches First Democratic Internet News Service in Partnership with Buzzflash.com
Democrats.com has launched the first daily Internet news service for Democrats in partnership with Buzzflash.com.
Democrats.com is the first online community for America's 100 million Democrats. Its goal is to help Democrats win elections and govern more effectively, both by inspiring activism and by building campaign web sites.
Buzzflash.com is the first daily Democratic news portal, modeled as a progressive alternative to the Drudge Report.
The Democrats.com news service is available on the Web and through e-mail subscriptions. E-mail subscribers may choose from the daily, weekly, and monthly editions. Internet users can visit http://democrats.com/subscribe. The service is also available for syndication to publishers.
"We are proud to give Democrats a vigorous new voice in the media," said Bob Fertik, co-founder of Democrats.com. "Our goal is to give Americans a progressive view of the news, with insight and humor," he said.
"The Drudge Report and right wing news sites have dominated the Internet for too long," said Mark Karlin, editor of Buzzflash.com. "Democrats and Independents now have two alternatives that tell it like it is, with irreverence and wit. BuzzFlash.com takes no prisoners when it comes to Republican hypocrisy.â?쳌
"We are excited to unite the leading Democratic community site and the leading Democratic news site," said David Lytel, co-founder of Democrats.com. "As we head into the stretch of the closest campaign in a generation, we are ready to battle Republicans for the hearts and minds of Internet users."
The Democrats.com Web site offers online discussions with Democratic leaders, chats, activism, games, personal home pages, e-mail accounts, hard-hitting analysis, and tools for researching candidates at all levels.
Democrats.com is a private company created in January by two veteran Democrats, David Lytel and Bob Fertik. Lytel was co-editor of the award-winning White House Web site in the first Clinton administration and a consultant to numerous Internet companies. Fertik is a consultant to Democratic candidates and causes, former publisher of Political Woman Newsletter, and co-founder of Women Leaders Online.
Democrats.com launched at the Democratic convention with a "Hush-in" on Privacy which highlighted Democratic leadership â?? and Republican obstruction â?? on key privacy issues. Democrats.com awarded the humorous Ken Starr awards, known as "The Kennys" to the nation's worst privacy violators, including Ken Starr himself.
Democrats.com has received high praise from the critics. Leo Jakobson of SiliconAlleyDaily.com recently wrote: "Happily, now, there is Democrats.com, a new website [that] seems to understand that hardcore, partisan Democratic politics need not be a solemn, serious and humorless affair.â?쳌
